Country Music DJ and Radio Hall of Famer Johnny "K" Koval died of cancer on Friday, May 6. An on-air personality for more than a half century, Mr. Koval was 77.

Known on air as "Johnny K," Mr. Koval worked at Middle Tennessee stations WSM-AM, WENO and WSIX, and he was syndicated nationally.

He interviewed hundreds of country stars, utilizing an easy, conversational style that allowed listeners a sense of what it might be like to have a casual chat with their favorite entertainers.
